Part II Tuesday 14 July 14:10-14:25 Stellar activity of M dwarfs with planets Jorge Sanz-Forcada (CAB, Spain) M stars are rather special if we compare them to our well known Sun. Late type stars have a stellar activity that depends on rotation. Since young stars rotate faster, it is in their youth when stellar activity is maximum, their "saturation" stage. For M stars this stage last much longer than for G stars, due to its deeper convective zone. One of the effects of activity is the high level of emission of ionizing radiation from the UV, EUV, and X-rays, originated in the corona of the star. In this talk I will explain how this can affect the planets in the habitable zone of an M star.
